Argument in Translation: Infographic Project’Based on the file uploaded named “Green Life for Green Earth…Again!”, need to create an infographic that communicates key ideas and information about the topic to a particular audience for a particular purpose.Like written essays, infographics bring together and shape diverse pieces of information into a coherent unified message, either in an exploratory or argumentative fashion. Unlike written essays, however, infographics use imagery and spatial relationships (in tandem with text) to achieve a purpose and reach an audience. The information ecosystem we now live in is very visual in nature, which makes visual communication an important skill to develop. How do you do it? Follow these steps:1) Determine your audience and purpose: who are you targeting in your infographic and why? What would you like your audience to know or do by viewing the infographic?2) Select the evidence from your research that best suits your purpose and audience: your evidence must be cohesive (it all ties or fits together) and easily conveyed in an infographic. Don’t try to cram everything you know about your topic into the infographic. On the other hand, make sure to include enough information to effectively achieve your purpose. Ultimately, due to the limited space in an infographic, it is the quality rather than the quantity of information that matters most.3) Decide how you will present the evidence to reach your audience and achieve your purpose: think about the images you’ll use and the spatial relations you’ll make among the pieces of evidence, especially how the infographic will “read” (remember visual hierarchy: top to bottom, left to right).4) Create your infographic: use any means (apps, platforms, software/programs, etc.) you have available as long as it produces an infographic that can be displayed online.
