Over the past several months the world investment markets have been very volatile and uncertain. At times, certain investments have behaved completely irrational (both positively and negatively). However, investing is an essential part of long-term wealth building. Always keep in mind that investing in different companies stocks is just one way to invest. Investing in company stock (U.S.A. and internationally), should be accompanied by a variety of other investments as discussed in your text. The video discussion compares several different types of investments over the past couple of years and longer-term. I hope you find the presentation informative. For this discussion post, please watch the video and then using the tools presented in the video, please compare graphically the performance of VFORX (Vanguard’s Target Date retirement fund for the year 2040, a mutual fund that invests in both stocks and bonds, both domestic and international) with the performance of any of the other investments discussed in the video. Please be sure to make the comparison for as long of a time period as possible, as well as over shorter time periods. What type of investments would you be most comfortable owning? As you think about investing for our long-term future, what type of investments are you considering? Are you comfortable with the riskiness of those investments?
