Write an inductive essay in which you:
explore the fallacies and biases most commonly experienced in your life,
and draw a conclusion that attempts to explain why these fallacies are so common in your world – what purpose do they serve?
Process:
Begin by identifying the fallacies or biases you most commonly experience.
Offer at least one complete body paragraph for each fallacy or bias. For each fallacy or bias, be sure to:
give a definition (outside source required),
offer a general/broad example, then move into a narrative style discussion of how you have experienced that fallacy or bias in your life,
finally, end each of these paragraphs by clearly explaining how the personal example you offered highlights the bias or fallacy introduced in the paragraph.
Once you have offered this sort of in depth reflection, analyze the role of the discussed fallacies or biases in you community/ life. This part should be 1-3 paragraphs (depending on the fallacies and biases you previously discussed).
For this second part of the essay consider the following questions:
Why do you think these fallacies or biases are so constant in your community/life?
What purpose does it serve?
What does each preserve?
What do they prevent?
When discussing the fallacy or bias, you are required use an outside source to help you define the terms you are using – it will help you establish credibility on the subject. So, be sure to create a works cited page
Minimum Requirements:
MLA format to cite outside sources used to define fallacies or biases discussed; word count: 900 – 1500 (roughly about 3 – 5 pages)
