Step One:

Pick one of the health problems in the list below and identify at least five potential research problems that might be studied through the scientific research process. You might want to form your research problems as questions to help keep them narrow and focused.

For example, one topic that is not on the list above, but has been an issue of choice in the past is HIV. Some research problems for HIV might be:

Why are rates of HIV infection increasing now when they decreased over the past several years?
What is the primary cause of HIV?
What are the consequences of HIV?
Do individuals know what to do to reduce the likelihood of getting HIV?
Do individuals know all of the ways HIV can be transmitted?
What can be done to help increase awareness that HIV is becoming an increasing problem that is preventable?
There are many other questions you might think of related to HIV. Remember research problem questions need to be very specific.

Step Two: Once you have identified your topic and five potential research problems present each problem on its own slide in a PowerPoint presentation. Your slide should include rationale for your problem. The overall presentation should have 7-10 slides.
