Answer the following three questions. Only submit the answers; please do Not repeat nor enumerate the questions:
I. Students shall reflect and share what they knew and understood about Mexican American people and community before taking the course. Such as its history, life celebrations, dance, music, & arts, culinary arts, and other observations of religious expressions, cultural patterns, and behaviors of Latina/o individuals and their families. (Approximately 400 words)
II. The use of historical indigenous Chicana Mexican American Latinas and mythical female archetypes as a socializing agent is a global phenomenon. While you may not be familiar with figures such as La Llorona and La Malinche. Take a moment to think about the most significant female role models (and cautionary tales) you’ve encountered growing up. Carefully consider how you were taught to relate to/think about these female archetypes versus how you conceive of them in the present. Are there any discrepancies? Has your perspective on them changed at all over time? Can you think of any ways in which these female archetypes have influenced either your own self-image or your understanding of Indigenous Chicana, Mexican American, and Latina women in general? Must Respond to both Latina-Texana lesbian authors Gloria Anzaldua’s “Borderlands” and Alicia Gaspar de Alba’s “Malinche’s Revenge” and cis-gendered Latina Profesora Dr. Angélica M. Yañez. Please cite from all the class readings, materials, and video links provided. (Approximately 400 words)
III. Students will reflect and share what students now know and understand of Mexican American people after taking the course and reading this week’s materials, texts, short films, and class discussions. (Approximately 400 words)
