Role of the Researcher As the student researcher conducting this study, I play idiomatic language multiple roles within the research process. Firstly, I am a graduate student at Walden University, and I bring a foundation of theoretical knowledge and critical thinking skills acquired through my academic coursework to the research process (Yob & Brewer, n.d.). Through writing analytic memos, I have gained a deeper understanding of the issues involved in studying social change within policing contexts and have critically reflected on my role and positionality as a researcher (Khoa et al., 2023). Ethical considerations are paramount throughout the research process, and I am committed to upholding ethical standards in all aspects of the study. This includes obtaining informed consent from participants, ensuring confidentiality and anonymity, and mitigating any potential risks or harm associated with participation. Any ethical issues that arise during the data collection process are addressed promptly and transparently, with careful consideration given to the well-being and rights of all stakeholders involved. This requires adopting adaptive strategies to address emerging issues and foster positive outcomes effectively. TRUSTWORTHINESS AND SUMMARY 7 Self-Reflection However, this research has evolved my understanding of myself as a positive social change agent. I recognize the importance of continuous learning, collaboration, and advocacy in driving meaningful organizational change. Engaging with diverse perspectives and evidencebased practices has deepened my commitment to promoting positive social change within criminal justice organizations. Among the reviewed articles, the study by Maskály et al. (2021) resonates most with my interests regarding social change. Their examination of organizational responses to crises shows the importance of flexibility and innovation in addressing challenges, thus aligning with my focus on promoting adaptive leadership and resilience within criminal justice organizations.
