MY TOPIC: THE REPRESENTATION OF THE SEXUALIZATION OF WOMEN IN MEDIA/ MOVIES. SOME EXAMPLES THAT CAN BE BROUGHT UP MIGHT BE MEGAN FOX IN TRANSFORMERS

o begin, conduct thorough research on your chosen topic. Locate a minimum of four sources to gain insight into the ongoing conversation surrounding your area of interest. Identify both the dominant and marginalized voices in that field/domain. Look into what are other people (rhetors) saying about representation in your chosen domain. 

After researching your topic and considering your own contemporary moment, you will yourself and join the conversation. Your argument should represent your own unique views/stance and respond to the other rhetors out there. You will need to use claims and diverse evidence to support your position. You will be required to use lived experience as 1 of the evidence types for your claim. 

Here are some guiding questions to help you get some ideas about what you could discuss/argue in the project. You do not need to answer all of them. 

What criteria define “effective” representation within this domain? Why does effective representation matter in this context? 

What specific types of representation are lacking in this domain? 

Who constitutes the marginalized voices within this community, and how do existing power structures contribute to their marginalization?

Has any progress towards better representation occurred already? Is it enough? Could it be better? If yes, how so? 

What strategies or initiatives have been implemented to address representation issues within this domain, and how effective have they been? What strategies would you propose?

• How do cultural, socio-economic, and political factors intersect to influence representation of marginalized voices within this domain?
• In what ways would effective representation within this domain impact societal perceptions and attitudes towards marginalized communities?
• How can individuals within the domain and broader society contribute to fostering more inclusive and equitable representation?
• You will be writing for an academic audience for this project. Keep this in mind when composing your project.

Reference the relationship your argument/position has to the other rhetors that you discussed previously.The development of a well-reasoned and well-supported position on an issue that you have selected. Your position should utilize a variety of rhetorical strategies that appeal to logos and ethos, and your position should avoid committing fallacies. As you develop your position, make certain to examine how your own view agrees, disagrees, illustrates, extends, challenges, or complicates other perspectives you covered in Section 2                      GRADING CRITERIA NEED TO MEET ALL OF THESE

• The project’s position/central argument is clear. Project answers the question: What unique ideas do you (the student) have to offer this conversation?

The project’s argument is supported with at least 2 claims and evidence. 

Lived experience must be used as 1 evidence type.

The project’s author employs various rhetorical strategies to develop a convincing argument that appeals to ethos/logos/pathos.
