Hereis the assignment
LEARNING GOAL
By reviewing and thinking critically about this course experience, students will identify key insights and connections of this course content to the management profession.
DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS
1.This step is for reading and thinking only – it helps you prepare to write. Review the sections and the assignments you completed throughout the course. Consider reviewing your Dropbox submissions to help you remember all the work that you have done. Spend time reflecting critically on the content and what you learned.
What does it mean to reflect critically? The next few sentences explain the process used in this course. Spend time thinking about how this learning compares or contrasts with your perceptions of human resource management prior to starting this course. Think about what you have learned and how the learning aligns with or differs from other courses, current/and or past professional experiences, etc. Ask yourself if/how your managerial competencies have changed during the course. Which content was the most challenging? Consider if/how your learning in this course could impact your future professional and/or academic career.
2.Start typing your reflection with this step. Create a MS Word document saved as your name. This document will be separated into three parts (see below).
3.Part 1 – 20 points
Use Part 1 as the heading. Review the assignments you completed during the course and the course’s learning objectives, listed below. Think about the prompts in #1 above as you review this information. Now, write 1-2 paragraphs that describe clearly at least 5 distinct learnings, insights, etc. Feel free to number these learnings/insights. Think broadly and choose distinct learnings (e.g., employment laws/the types of discrimination would count as one insight). Remark on any aha/lightbulb moments, connections, surprises, etc. you had. A minimum of 10 well-developed sentences are required for part 1.
·Explore the functional areas of human resource management (HRM), including strategic HRM, diversity and inclusion, employment law, talent acquisition and management, compensation, training and development, employee and labor relations, performance management, and health, safety, and security.
·Recognize employment legislation and other HRM concepts designed to prevent discrimination, harassment, and unfair treatment in the workplace.
·Identify strategies for talent acquisition and management, including workforce planning, recruitment, selection, retention, training and development, and performance management.
·Examine the components of total rewards systems, including compensation and benefits strategies.
·Analyze real organizational data using Excel to develop HRM solutions.
4.Part 2 – 15 points
Use Part 2 as the heading. Begin by thinking back to your thoughts on HRM and taking this course/at the beginning of the semester. Consider if/how your thinking about HRM has changed. How might you explain what HRM is about to someone who is new to this discipline within management?
Imagine that you are at an upcoming gathering with some of your favorite people. Someone with no HRM background asks you (A) what this course was about and (B) why college students should take it. Write your answer to this person in a paragraph for Part 2. Your answer must: (1) explain what HRM is in terms an 8th grader could understand and (2) describe the overall value that expertise in HRM can bring to any organization/management team. This paragraph should contain at least 5 well-developed sentences.
5.Part 3 – 40 points
Use Part 3 as the heading. You will write two paragraphs for this part. In the first one, choose one of the aha/lightbulb moments, insights, connections, surprises, etc. from Part 1 above. Describe this learning very specifically and thoroughly by including the following components in your paragraph, which must contain at least five well-developed sentences:
A.Describe how/when/where you experienced the learning (such as the activity you were completing when the learning occurred, etc.) and why the learning was memorable.
B.Explain how the learning changed your thinking or added to your knowledge, skills, etc. Consider these prompts: Was it brand new? Did it contradict something you had learned previously?
C.Describe why this learning could be valuable in your life, both now and in the future. Consider how this learning could make a difference in your career.
D.Conclude the paragraph with a brief SMART goal statement that explains how you think this specific learning will help you be more successful during the next five years. Make sure that your goal statement clearly identifies each of the SMART elements. Use this USC resource to help refresh your memory on the components of SMART goals: https://employees.usc.edu/performance-management/t…. Example of a SMART goal: By December 2024, I will use virtual professional development opportunities to complete the Quality Matters Certification program, which will improve my online teaching skills and strengthen my curriculum vita.
E.In paragraph 2, repeat the steps for paragraph 1 by choosing another one of the aha/lightbulb moments, insights, connections, surprises, etc. from Part 1 to discuss in more detail following the steps above. The two required paragraphs in this part should contain at least five well-developed sentences each.
6.Submit the MS Word file to the Final Course Reflection Dropbox folder by the deadline. The document should contain 600+ words to be thorough.
