Once you have collected all the information, you will create an infographic for a lay audience. The purpose will be to inform the audience of that company’s history, mission and goals, products it manufactures, recent economic performance, and other information as you see fit. Recent could imply the last five years or less. An infographic is a visual representation of information. It organizes facts and ideas into a readily consumable format for a non-specialist audience. You can include any information that will enrich your audience/reader’s knowledge. It can include the company’s information, history, the products and their impact on the consumer society, performance in terms of output and profit, and the company’s impact in contemporary times, etc. The infographic must be visually appealing and keep in mind the effective infographic or basic design principals for effective infographic making. To create your digital infographic, you will use Piktochart—a free, online tool, or Canva. Please do not buy a subscription.You will be submitting this assignment through Turnitin (a plagiarism checker software), so please be careful of how you incorporate information. You will draw upon and cite a minimum of three sources for this assignment. You will represent these different perspectives using icons, images, charts and/or graphs, as well as strategically developed, concise textual elements. You will cite your sources using traditional in-text parenthetical citations on the actual infographic (author-page format, and you will include full bibliographic details on a separate, MLA-style works cited page. The works cited should adhere to MLA formatting guidelines and be submitted as a .doc or .docx file. Your final digital draft should reflect substantial revision on your hand-drawn rough draft. All textual elements of the infographic should include clear, well-edited writing that is free of proofreading errors and errors of grammar, mechanics, and syntax.
Most importantly, balance text and graphic. The infographic should not be text heavy or graphic heavy. Pay particular attention to alignment of the graphics and the text. Pay attention to the principles of document design of contrast, color, patterns, repeating fonts and font size, and chunking text (do not write in paragraphs). Sub-titles in the infographic should use a particular font and size that is different from the content text. Title should be a little bigger in size. Repeat the color in all titles and subtitles. The color of the sub-titles and main content can be different or same. See which one would work better for your reader or audience.Choose two or three colors and keep repeating them.
