MIS478 Earned Value Analysis Exercise
Project Management Individual Assignment: Earned Value Analysis Exercise Learning Objectives At the completion of this assignment, you should be able to: • Apply earned value analysis concepts to a project by calculating various metrics; and • Managerially interpret the results of earned value analysis. Due Date Please submit this assignment by Sunday, April 21st at 11:59 PM (AZ time). Assignment Overview This is a simple assignment that you can easily do on your own, but if you prefer, you are allowed to work with classmates. As usual, if you work together, the names of those who worked together should be listed on the submission. Each student, however, should submit their answers individually. Assume that you are the project manager for the construction of a 15-mile road. Further assume that the work is uniformly distributed over 12 weeks. The total approved budget for this project is $600,000. At the end of the first three weeks of work $160,000 has been spent and five miles of road have been completed. At the end of the first three weeks, what do you think of the current status of the project in terms of cost and schedule? Describe the earned value analysis terms that you use and their formulas, and then calculate each metric. Then interpret your results. Important: there are more than 3 earned value metrics to calculate. To get full credit you need to calculate all of the metrics. Please save your answers in a Word document (.doc or .docx) using the following file convention: MIS478Spring2024-LastName-FirstName-EarnedValue.docx. Make sure that you list all the classmates that you work with on this assignment. Important: Please copy and paste any work you do in Excel into the Word file. Do not paste screenshots into the Word file. Evaluation Criteria and Grading Rubric Assignment will be evaluated on the quality of the earned value analysis exercise.
