You have two tasks:
1. Write response to the articles and frame it as you are a school psychologist and write about the information in discussing and ask a discussion question about how educators can support this depending on topic relate it to teachers, students, and educators. “The Mayer review demonstrates the significance of game-based learning across various research domains such as value-added research, cognitive outcomes research, and media comparison research. It suggests that forthcoming studies should incorporate a control group exposed to material identical to the gaming group to enhance the robustness of findings.
The Pasqualotto et al. (2023) article discusses the pros and cons game design elements might face if three challenges are not addressed: (1) Maintain high motivation given that learning typically requires long-term training regimens, (2) Ensure that the content or skills to be learned are indeed mastered in the face of many possible distractions, and (3) Produce knowledge transfer beyond the proximal learning objectives.
Given the information from the two articles, I am curious if anyone thinks video games effectively supplement traditional educational methods or if they distract learning?”
