Journal Entries
10 entries (10 different observations) and cover at least 8 different topics or subtopics (e.g., theory of mind, language development, puberty, etc.). Entries should be separated from each other and clearly labeled. You do not need to observe people in person. Videos on the internet, including social media and YouTube are appropriate sources of observations, as are recollections of events from the not-so-distant past. For instance, if you interacted with your baby cousin 6 months ago, you can include that here.
When you see someone do something interesting (especially a child or adolescent), write a short paragraph (at least 150 words) about the experience and how it relates to the material you’re learning here in developmental psychology. Here are some things you should address in your entry.
- A description of the behavior or interaction you observed
- The theory, principle, or stage that applies, making sure to justify this choice.
- A synthesis of the two points above (including whether the behavior was “typical” for that age or group)
