My supervision is excellent because I can ask questions freely, and my supervisor has been educating me on many aspects of the field. An area where my supervision could improve could be by educating me more on policies in the agency. Sometimes, when my supervisor makes a decision in a case, I am unsure why, and it is due to the agency’s policy. She is swamped and may need to be more mindful from time to time about my lack of knowledge of agency policy. The readings highlight the importance of supervision. Caras & Sandu mention that supervisors’ roles include managing, supporting, and guiding (2014). These readings align with my supervision because I receive my supervisor’s management, support, and guidance. My supervisor’s primary goal is to help me become educated in this field. “The main focus of your internship and the supervisor–supervisee relationship is on learning, growth, and development” (Sweitzer & King, 2019). I feel very comfortable with the setting, format, and other aspects of my supervision. My supervisor is experienced and has been in social work for almost 15 years. She never makes me uncomfortable and doesn’t push me to the point of being uncomfortable. We are starting slow and progressively diving more into all of the information. She is cautious in not trying to overwhelm me. Overall, I feel comfortable, happy, and satisfied with my placement and supervision.References

The employees all check on me. If I’m working with a client, they always come to see how I’m doing. They’ll inquire about my well-being and need help. I feel comfortable and secure with the clients and staff at the “Justice Resource Institute,” and I am grateful to the team. If I have completed any referrals or files, my supervisor always verifies that everything is correct. As we work with children who have emotional, behavioral, and mental health issues, she ensures that we are organized and vigilant when planning group sessions for the kids. Identify areas where supervision at your agency could improve.The only area I feel needs to be improved is when there are trips into the community. We could use more staff on hand so that the children are protected and safe and can’t escape the group.Identify where the supervision you experience aligns with your readings. Social workers’ primary responsibility is to “promote clients’ well-being“ (Caras & Sandu, 2014). Clients’ interests are “primary”(Caras & Sandu, 2014). However, social workers’ “responsibility to the larger society or specific legal obligations” may, on limited occasions, supersede the loyalty owed to clients, and clients should be so advised(Caras & Sandu, 2014).Explain whether or not you are comfortable with the setting, format, and other aspects of the supervision experience. I feel very comfortable in this field, especially with the supervision. The program has a very well-organized format. It’s a good idea to buzz in before entering the building.
