Sociology Question
Reading Summaries/Reflection: Students are required to write two reading summaries/reflections of the course readings. Each reflection should discuss one chapter from our textbook or a supplemental article. These papers serve three main goals: to help synthesize the major themes of the textbook, to help students understand how the various readings fit into the overall themes of the class, and to help students prepare for the midterm and final exams.
I invite students to turn in their summaries/reflections the week the reading is due on the weekly reading schedule below.
The reading summary/reflections should offer a summary of the main points of the weekly reading. Then students should discuss in more depth (~1 page) one or more of the major concepts from the reading. After describing/defining the concept, students should give their general reactions to, feelings about, challenges to, etc. the concept addressed in the readings. Also, make sure to clearly state which articles you are engaging by including chapter name and number (or the title of the article and the author).
Please provide a quote from the reading that speaks to the prompt. Provide a screenshot/photo of the page in the textbook with your quote highlighted. Copy and paste the screenshot into the body of your paper.
