A nurse’s best course of action is to respect and honor the patient’s desires. Establishing trust is crucial for the nurse. Nurses should develop close, meaningful relationships with their patients and be conscious of their own biases. This approach made it easier for me to recall that the patient was the common denominator despite all the diversity and views.
