Introduction
If you have the ability to hear, then you are familiar with the sounds we make. The speech on this blog will be using some terms that may not be common in everyday life. This is because they are terms used in the medical field, but they can easily be understood by anyone that has heard of them before!
1. A- = without
The sound A- is used in medical terminology to represent a word that is not present in the English language.
It can be used to represent any word that is not present in the English language, including:

A-sound – the absence of an oral sound (as in “saw”) or an articulation (as in ‘p’)

Ab=Absence of B=B sound

Absent – Not Present
2. -ACOUSTIC = hearing
The word ACOUSTIC is used to describe the sense of hearing. You can hear sounds, but not everyone’s ears are equally sensitive to sound. For example, people who have been deaf from birth cannot hear anything at all. They may have a hard time understanding what others say because they don’t have any idea about how their bodies work and how speech works with them.
However, most people do experience some form of acoustics in their lives—whether it be through music or television commercials that come through the speakers in our homes (and sometimes even outside).
3. ACOUSTO- = sound
Acoustic is a sound that is produced by a vibrating object or organism. It can be either external or internal and can result in hearing loss if the vibration reaches the inner ear. Acoustic trauma is an injury to the ear caused by loud sounds such as gunshots, explosions and thunderstorms.
An acoustic neuroma is a tumor of nerve cells in your inner ear that are responsible for hearing. Most people with this condition have symptoms such as tinnitus (ringing in the ears), vertigo (seizures) and dizziness due to pressure change inside their head when they move around too quickly after being exposed to loud noises like those mentioned above.
4. AD- = toward or near
The word ad- means toward or near and is the opposite of ab- which means away from.
The most common use of adverbs in medical terminology is to describe things that are near or toward the body. For example, if you want to describe how something moves toward your body, use an adverb such as adduction, backflip, etc.
5. -APY = treatment
Treatment is the action or process of providing medical care to a patient. Treatment can be given to treat symptoms, underlying causes and/or both. In some cases, treatment may also be used as a preventative measure against certain diseases in order to avoid their occurrence altogether. Additionally, many medications are used as treatments for specific illnesses or conditions such as high blood pressure (hypertension), asthma attacks and heart disease (coronary artery disease).
The term “treatment” has many different meanings depending on context but generally refers to something that helps improve health outcomes by reducing suffering from an illness or condition; however this does not always mean achieving complete recovery from all symptoms present at one time.”
6. AUDI- = hearing

“AUDI- = hearing” (audible).
7. BI- = two
BI- = two.

Bi-lateral: Two sides (of something). For example, “My dog has two legs.”

Bi-pedal: Having two feet. For example, “The monkey is bipedal.”

Bi-lingual: Being able to speak both languages fluently and easily; being able to speak two languages at once without having trouble with either one of them; also known as bilingualism or multilingualism. It refers to someone who has been raised from birth with the ability to interpret multiple languages without having any difficulty understanding spoken language
8. BINAURAL
The binaural hearing system is the most common form of human hearing. It occurs when two ears receive sound from the same source at the same time and in such a way that each ear’s neural signal can be processed independently. Binaural hearing is important for localization, which means knowing where a sound is coming from in space. In addition to being good for localization, binaural hearing also helps us perceive sounds accurately (e.g., distinguishing between different pitches). Binaural signals allow us to process multiple frequencies at once; this allows us to hear words spoken by someone speaking quickly or slowly, as well as distinguish between different voices when listening via headphones or speakers on our computers or phones!
Binaural signals are made up of both ortho-aural (or “on-ear”) and para-aural (or “around ear”) components:
9. COCHLEAR
The cochlea is the inner ear, and it’s responsible for hearing. It contains a fluid that acts as an amplifier of sound vibrations, so that we can detect them. The hair cells in our ears contain potassium channels which allow different frequencies to pass through them at different speeds. This allows us to perceive certain sounds (such as speech) more clearly than others; if you have ever had an ear infection or inflammation before, then this will explain why your hearing has been impaired!
The spiral organ converts these electrical signals into mechanical movements within its outermost layer called Cilia (singular form: cilium), which causes movement of fluid along its length while simultaneously sending signals inside other parts of our body like muscles etcetera.”
10. CONDUCTION/CONDUCTIVE HEARING LOSS
Conductive hearing loss is a type of sensorineural hearing loss that occurs as a result of damage to the inner ear. The most common cause of conductive hearing loss is an infection, although it can also be caused by trauma or other physical injuries.
Conductive hearing loss occurs when sound waves are unable to travel through the outer and middle ear into the cochlea (the snail-shaped part inside your inner ear). This prevents you from receiving all sounds equally loud, which can cause:

11. CRANIAL NERVE VIII
Cranial nerve VIII is called the vestibulocochlear nerve. It is responsible for hearing, balance and equilibrium. The two parts of this cranial nerve are called the cochlear nerve and vestibular (balance) or labyrinthine (hearing) pathway.
