You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.
Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.
The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.

Contemporary Nursing Practice
Introduction
Nursing has become a complicated field in need of specialized training. In this article, we’ll explore the theory behind nursing, its role in healthcare, and the communication and collaboration skills required for success as a nurse.
Overview
As a nursing student, you’ll have to learn the basics of nursing. You’ll also need to know how to take care of yourself and your patients while they’re in your care. But all that doesn’t mean that you can just start practicing right away! Before you begin working as an RN or certified nurse assistant (CNA), there are several steps involved in becoming a certified professional nurse:
-
Passing exams
-
Completing training programs
Nursing Theory
Nursing theory is a broad area of study that can help you develop your nursing practice. It includes many different types of beliefs, ideas, and philosophies about how people receive and maintain health, or how they lose it.
Theory helps nurses understand the causes of illness or injury and how to prevent them in their patients; it also helps them anticipate problems before they occur so that they can provide effective care for their patients’ needs.
Nurses Role in Healthcare
Nurses are the primary caregivers in healthcare. They provide patient care, assist physicians and other healthcare providers in making medical decisions, and work with patients to improve their lives through education. Nurses are experts in their field; they know how to treat different conditions effectively by following guidelines set by professional organizations such as the American Nurses Association (ANA).
Nurses also have knowledge about medications that can be used for various conditions or symptoms—including those related to pain management—and they know how these drugs interact with one another so that their patients do not suffer side effects from taking them together.
Healthcare Technology
Healthcare technology is a term that encompasses any device or system that improves the efficiency and quality of healthcare delivery. Examples include:
-
Electronic health records (EHRs) – These help physicians and nurses manage patients’ medical histories, create discharge plans for each patient, track vital signs during an episode of care, and more. An EHR can also help you understand what’s happening in your own health so you can make informed decisions about your treatment options.
-
Electronic medical devices – These include pacemakers, defibrillators (a device used to shock someone’s heart back into rhythm), thermometers or other temperature-measuring devices used by nurses in hospital settings; blood pressure cuffs worn around their upper arms by patients who need medications to lower their blood pressure levels; insulin pumps worn on the abdomen by diabetics who require injections of insulin three times daily; stents placed inside arteries where there has been a buildup of plaque due to atherosclerosis (hardening/clogging) caused by high cholesterol levels
Communication and Collaboration
Communication and collaboration are essential to nursing practice. Nurses work with other healthcare professionals, patients and their families, as well as other nurses. The ability to communicate effectively with these different groups of people is vital for nurses who want to provide quality care for patients.
Communication between nurses can help foster better relationships between staff members so that all involved parties are able to provide the best possible service for their patients. It also helps prevent misunderstandings that could lead to mistakes in care delivery or patient safety issues like medication errors or medical complications from delayed diagnoses due to lack of communication between healthcare professionals involved in patient care (1).
Nursing has become a complicated field in need of specialized training.
Nursing is a challenging field, but it’s also rewarding. As an RN, you’ll be responsible for providing patient care and working with other health professionals to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.
As a nurse practitioner (NP), you’ll provide primary health care services that include diagnosis and treatment of acute conditions such as fractures or sprains; chronic conditions including diabetes; preventive services like immunizations; assessment and management of illness related to pregnancy or parenthood; treatment of pain syndromes like arthritis in adults age 40+.
Nurses have access to more than 100 years’ worth of accumulated knowledge about how people respond differently when they’re sick or injured—and what treatments work best against their specific needs
Conclusion
Nursing has become a complicated field in need of specialized training. Nurses must be able to communicate effectively and collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, therapists and pharmacists. They must also be equipped with the skills necessary to work within both hospital or clinic settings as well as at home or in nursing homes. In order for nurses to succeed in this rapidly-changing environment, they need an education that addresses these concerns and provides them with an opportunity for growth through hands-on experience
