Introduction
The nurse leader is a dynamic professional who understands how to lead change. They are able to inspire others, influence beyond authority and collaborate with other leaders to achieve organizational goals. A successful change agent will also have the following competencies or skills: influence others through communication practices that promote engagement; build organizational capacity and engagement by improving internal communication practices; increase business performance by optimizing processes already in place or implementing new ones altogether; enhance employee job satisfaction and commitment by providing training opportunities that address individual needs while improving overall performance metrics such as customer satisfaction scores or retention rates at company-wide levels
Build organizational capacity and engagement.
There are two main ways to build organizational capacity and engagement. The first is to focus on the work itself, but this approach can be time-consuming and painful for employees. The second way is to make sure that your organization has the right people in place so it can attract and retain top talent. This includes building an effective leadership model, establishing clear accountability systems among team members, ensuring that employees feel valued by their leaders, providing training opportunities for new hires (and other forms of support), providing incentives or rewards when appropriate (such as bonuses or performance-based raises), etc…

The nurse should not assume that there is only one side of a story or that they know everything about an issue without hearing both sides first hand from their staff members involved in any given situation (i.e., nurses).
Track results of improvements and innovations.
It’s important to track the results of your improvements and innovations. For example, if you’re implementing a new policy that allows nurses to take vacation time more freely, consider how many nurses are taking advantage of this policy. If it’s not being used much yet, think about why that might be and how you can change things up in order to make it more appealing for future employees.
