· Describe the use of culture in group work.

The use of culture in group allows for us to learn more about the people we are working with. For example if we are working with a group of people who are all culturally different this provides a starting place or type of ice break which limits awkwardness but still allows everyone to have discussion and learn about each other in the process.

· Describe how the group in the case study example from your text is affected by cultural differences.

The differences within the cultures of the group were causing a reluctance to participate. Once the mediator noted that reluctance they came up with solutions to make everyone more comfortable. After that the group flowed much better and each party was more willing to comment and discuss with the group.  

· Describe some characteristics from your own culture and explain how they might affect a group or group work.

In more traditional American culture, in which I am a part of, there are many things that we may do that other cultures may find strange. For example depending on the area in which you live you may not talk to your neighbors or may not wave to people on the street. For some of us this may seem normal but to others this may be very odd. With cultures are different and have different values having a discussion about them and learning about other cultures is an excellent way to learn about your group.
