Culture Organization
It is important to assess the organizational culture to understand the potential challenges. Potential challenges when implementing the nursing practice intervention include resistance to change, resource constraints, hierarchy and power dynamics, and communication and collaboration. Hospitals already have established practices and routines, and introducing new practice interventions will likely be met with much resistance. The success of the intervention is dependent on effective collaboration and communication between the healthcare team. The intervention will likely incur a lot of financial investment as it entails adopting new technology.
Strategic Plan
The strategic plan’s objective is to ensure that the family-centered care nursing practice intervention has been implemented successfully and that it is improving patient outcomes and satisfaction over six months. The first step is stakeholder engagement. This entails engaging the key stakeholders, that is, patients, healthcare providers, nursing leadership, and IT support from the word go. All the concerns that they have should be addressed. The second step is comprehensive training and education (Smith, 2020). This is important as it will ensure that the nursing staff and other stakeholders are well-familiarized with the technology used. The third step is to develop a communication strategy. Having clear and open communication will go a long way in ensuring the success of the intervention. The fourth step is technology integration. This entails collaboration with the IT department to ensure that the patient/family engagement platform integration is successful. The fifth step is to measure the outcomes. This will help to know if the intervention is successful or not. The sixth step in the plan is leadership support. Gaining support from the leaders will go a long way in ensuring the success of the intervention. The last step is to celebrate success. Recognizing and celebrating milestones is important as it helps motivate all those involved (Smith, 2020).

PICOT Question

Step 1: PICOT Question
The PICOT Question is “In healthcare settings, does the implementation of family-centered care practices compared to standard care practices with no family-centered care protocols result in improvements in patient satisfaction, adherence to treatment plans, reduced hospital readmissions and patient outcomes over six months?”
In this PICOT question, the target population (P) is the patients in healthcare settings. In addition, the proposed intervention (I) is the implementation of family-centered care practices such as family education, involvement in treatment planning, access to family support, and other family-centered interventions. Also, the comparison (C) group are patients receiving standard or conventional care without involvement of family-centered practices. The expected outcome (O) includes demonstrating a positive impact on patient/family satisfaction, enhanced adherence to treatment/interventions, reduced hospital readmissions, and increased patient satisfaction. Lastly, the time (T) component is six months, meaning the study will take six months to help establish the impact of the intervention.
Step 2: Identifying the PICOT Problem
The clinical problem arising from clinical care is reduced patient satisfaction, non-adherence to treatment plans, increased hospital readmissions, and poor patient outcomes. In providing optimal care, the absence of family-centered care in healthcare settings creates a situation where patients lack a comprehensive understanding of their treatment plan, raising their stress and anxiety levels due to the lack of a support system (Mohammadi et al., 2020). This negatively impacts the overall healthcare outcomes resulting in dissatisfaction with care. Family plays a crucial role during hospitalization since they provide emotional support and are also considered a crucial source of information for the patient and the family (Mohammadi et al., 2020). In this case, failure to involve the family in care can result in unsatisfactory intervention outcomes.
Step 3: Nursing Intervention
The proposed nursing intervention in the study is the implementation of a structured family-centered care approach. This intervention will involve family participation in treatment planning, conducting family education sessions, providing access to support services, and other forms of collaboration with the patient’s families. On the other hand, the comparison group in the study will receive standard/conventional care intervention with no emphasis or implementation of family-centered methods. The proposed timeframe for implementing the change process (intervention) will be six months to allow adequate time to thoroughly evaluate the impact family-centered care has on patient outcomes compared to standard care approaches.
Step 4: Clinical Problem Summary and Patient Outcomes
The clinical problem in the study is the lack of family-centered care in patient care in healthcare settings. Family is an influential factor in caring for a family member during hospitalization. For instance, family is regarded as a crucial information source and provides physical and emotional support to patients making them a vital component in patient care. In this case, a lack of family involvement in treatment planning and other patient care processes could lead to unsatisfactory health outcomes, as well as other challenges such as miscommunication, stress, and dissatisfaction with care (Mohammadi et al., 2020).
On the other hand, research has shown that family involvement in care is associated with improved patient outcomes, better comprehension of care, adherence to treatment, reduced stress and anxiety, and reduced hospital readmissions (kokorelias et al., 2019). By implementing family-centered care, healthcare professionals create a care environment that appreciates patients and families and respects their beliefs, perspectives, and preferences. This results in the maximization of the strengths all stakeholders in the care process possess toward positive care outcomes (kokorelias et al., 2019).
According to Franck & O’Brien (2019), family-centered care also helps create a supportive care environment leading to improved patient experience and satisfaction. In addition, a study by Park et al. (2018) shows that patient and family-centered care interventions are associated with reduced hospital admissions, length of stay, and readmissions. The intervention also increases the quality of life. Another outcome of family-centered care is reduced depression, anxiety and stress resulting in better patient outcomes and satisfaction (Park et al., 2018). Overall, engaging patients and their families in care through a family-centered care method could improve patient’s health outcomes by promoting adherence to treatment regimen, reducing readmissions and increasing satisfaction.

Objectives
Identify best practice
To evaluate the understanding, mindset, and application of family-centered care among healthcare practitioners in managing hospitalized children (Oude Maatman et al., 2020).
Engage families in care planning.
To assess healthcare professionals’ willingness to collaborate with parents in providing care to children who are hospitalized (Albayrak & Büyükgönenç, 2022).
Evaluate patient and family satisfaction.
To determine the degree to which parents desire to be involved in caring for their hospitalized children (Franck et al. 2022).
Asses problems
Identifying problems healthcare professionals face in implementing family-centered care when treating hospitalized children (Franck et al., 2022).
Continual improvement
Propose approaches for successfully adopting family-centered care in managing hospitalized children (Franck et al., 2022).
