Assessment is an important key to the instructional planning for the early childhood classroom. We also know that all skills in the early childhood classroom are directly related to the five developmental domains in early childhood. As a reminder, they are social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language, and you will be using your prior knowledge. Performance-based assessments are good tools for measuring a child’s performance relevant to a desired learning outcome and is used individually or to evaluate the entire education program. When using this type of assessment, students are required to perform an action or activity, and it is a good tool in the evaluation process to plan for instruction. You will now identify appropriate performance assessments for young children in this week’s discussion. Your response should be a minimum of 500 words.
There are five steps in this discussion.
1. In this assessment you will choose one domain for this assignment. The domains are social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language.
2. You will select your age group based on your last name. Last name:
