Home Is What You Make It
When you are a child, and you are asked ?where is your home? You would automatically answer with the place you live at, with your family. When does this fact change for some people? Does someone’s definition of home change with age or even their life growing up? Does everyone even have something they can openly call ?home? In my opinion, it varies from person to person. It also varies with each person’s situation and environment. My feeling of home went away for a long time. But then on October 4th, 2021, Kris entered my life. Kris very quickly and easily became my home. They came into my life when I needed someone to save me, they saved my life. So, if anyone was to ask me now ?where is your home? My automatic answer would be with them, Kris is my home. The definition of home is different for everyone because home can be changed with age, home can be a person and home can ultimately be whatever you want it to be.
The definition of home is different for everyone because home can be changed with age. Everyones perspective on everything changes with time and as you age. This also applies to your feeling of home and what you classify as your home. Your age can and will change your outlook on things and how you will answer certain questions. As you grow up and your feelings and age changes things you start to see things differently. You can look back into your past and remember saying that the house was your home but now that your perspective has changed. Your outlook on the world and the meaning of home has changed along with it, you begin to see the things around you differently. My definition of home has changed as I have aged. I grew up answering the question ?where is your home?, exactly as I mentioned above. But I also grew up blind to how the people in ?my home were treating me. Home was that house where I lived (and still currently live) until I was around the age of seven or eight. Then home became just another word. Everyones definition of home is different; it changes from person to person and from time to time.
The definition of home is different for everyone because home can be a person. To many people, home is a place. To other people, home is a person. Home can start out meaning a place to you then it may very easily change to being a person. Being able to call something or someone your home makes you feel comfortable and safe in that place or with that person. With many people it may be easier for them to feel safe and comfortable with a person rather than a place. Home is supposed to be a place where you can go when you need to feel a sense of well-being. My home isnt a place and hasnt been a place for over ten years, but what or more like who is my home, is Kris. My home isnt a place or a house, my home is a person, my home is Kris. Kris makes me feel at home. They have me feeling an overwhelming feeling of safety day in and day out, along with making me feel extremely loved every single day. Home will forever be a person to me, more specifically my person, who is Kris. My home hasnt been a place for a very long time. My home is very much so a person, Kris, will forever be my home. My definition of home is probably very different than your definition of home, my home is a person.
The definition of home is different for everyone because home can ultimately be whatever you want it to be. You can make home whatever you want it to be. If you want home to be a place, then so be it. But also, in reverse if you want home to be a person, then so be it. While you could also just think that home is nothing, that home is just another word in the dictionary. Home can be whatever you make it. Home is something, somewhere or someone that makes you feel cared for and loved. Even if you can’t quite find the place or people/person that makes you feel at home it’s always out there. Even if right now it’s just a word or a what if, home is where you are the most supported, loved and cared for. While you’re with people or a person who makes you feel important, needed and wanted. Also showing you the love and support you need to be or feel at home. My home is what I have made it. Over the years my definition of home has changed significantly. My home went from a place to absolutely nothing to what it is today. What my home is today, is 100% a person, my person. My home has transformed me as a person. They saved me when my life felt like it wasnt worth living. They have picked me up off the ground many times when my mental health has taken a great downfall. This also means it can be where you live.
Home can only be where you live. If someone is asked if they know where their home is they will answer with their home address. Home must be where you live. Home involves where you live with your family. Home is where you have your cars parked at night. Home is where you get mail sent to. Home is where you go to after work or school to relax. Home is the place you go after a long stressful day to try to let go of some of that day’s stress and anxiety. Home is a place with four walls, floors and a ceiling. A place with doors and windows. Home to me is 1231 Home Avenue. I have three cars at my home. I have two car trailers at my home. I live at my home with my five kids and my wife. My home has five bedrooms, two bathrooms, an attic and a fully furnished basement. My home is blue. My home has a big backyard with a big vegetable garden in it. The backyard of my home also has a flower garden in it. Home only can be where I live and that is what it will always be. My home can only be this place. No. Home isn’t only where you live. It isnt only a place with four walls, floors and a ceiling. Home is whatever you want it to be, but it will never just be a place, the place where someone lives, to everyone in the world.
In conclusion, Home doesnt have to be the same for every person, it can change from person to person. Home can be changed with age. Age can change your perspective of the way you can and will classify something or someone as your home. Your past can show how you think about certain things including how you think about your feeling of home and how it can be changed from your past to now. Home can be a person. A person can become your home after you lose your sense of safety within the physical place you are living. A person could more quickly become your home if you need a feeling of safety and being comfortable in your life. Home can ultimately be whatever you want it to be. If you want your home to be a person then it can be a person, if you want your home to be a place then it can be a place and if you dont currently have a home then that is okay. If you havent found your home then you will find it whether that be in a person, a place or multiple people. Home is whatever you chose it to be, but it will never ever be just a place where you and your family live, for everyone in the world. The definition of home is different for everyone because home can be changed with age, home can be a person and home can ultimately be whatever you want it to be.
