3. Typewritten, size 12 font.
4. Correct spelling & punctuation

II. Personal Response
A. Overall Theatrical Experience
1. The play itself: What do you believe the play was about, and what was the playwright trying to communicate to the audience?
2. What was the genre of the play? (Tragic, comedic, tragicomic) Explain.
3. Was the play realistic or non-realistic? What about the play signaled either one?
4. Structure of the text: Was it episodic or climactic?
5. Describe the conflict in the text – which characters were in conflict? Was there a climax? When was it? Was the conflict resolved, and how was it resolved? How do you feel about the resolution of the conflict?
6. Theatre Space: What type of theatre was it, if in a theatre at all? How perceivably large or small? What sort of atmosphere did the theatre or film create?
B. The Actors
1. Believability: Were the actors believable in the role they were playing? If they were, how did they seem to achieve this? If they were not, what occurred to weaken or ruin believability? (Make sure you separate the performer from the role – you can dislike a character but appreciate the way the actor portrayed him/her.)
2. What actors do you believe were the most successful in their role? Note what they did well.
3. If there were performers you did not like or believe to be successful, explain why you believe they were not. Give concrete examples.
4. C. The Director
1. The director unifies a production and frequently communicates the message of the play to the audience. Did there seem to be a unifying idea behind the production? How were you able to find it in the play? If you believe there was not, what failed?
2. Did the pace of the production seem right? Did it drag in places or move swiftly? Did you find your mind wandering in particular scenes? Pick them out and explain what made you lose interest. Did one scene follow the other quickly, or were there long pauses or interruptions?
3. Do you believe the play was cast correctly? Were the actors appropriate for their roles?
4. Did all of the elements of the production (scenery, costumes, lighting, sound) seem to be unified and fit together seamlessly, or were there any incompatible design elements in your opinion?
