1VC BSC 1010c – ONLINE Group Project Guidelines SPRING 2023 This semester, 10% of your final grade will be based on a group project that your group will present to your class online at a selected date during the semester. The group presentation ppt. will be uploaded to canvas for class discussion. This project will help you explore a topic related to what we are discussing in class and should NOT be a repeat of basic course material provided by your instructor. You will work in a group of 3-4 students to present your chosen topic to the class. You will also have an individual written paper component, and a peer evaluation survey component. These will not be shared with the class. You and your group members will receive the same grade for the presentation, but you will be graded individually on your paper and your peer evaluation. The Group Presentation:You and your group will research your chosen topic and create a 15-20 slide presentation (5 ppt slide minimum per group member). You may use PowerPoint or other presentation software. You will be evaluated as a group, and each member of the group will receive the same grade for the presentation. See the grading rubric below forwhat you need to include in the ppt. and how you will be evaluated.As a group, you should decide how to distribute the work load, using individual talents asbest you can. You need to discuss your choice of SPECIFIC topics with your professor at least 1 WEEK prior to your presentation.Once the presentation is uploaded to canvas discussion, the class will be assigned to read over the group s PowerPoint presentation and make a comment or question in the discussion about the project. It will be the publishing group s responsibility to answer any questions asked or points will be deducted from the presentation portion of the grade. The Paper:You will turn in a 3-4 page paper based on your individual research for the presentation. This is an individual assignment, and you must do your own work. The paper should not be an exact repeat of the ppt. presentation, but rather should expand on your own research about the topic. See the grading rubric for what you need to include and how you will be evaluated. The paper is due at the same time your presentation is due.Peer EvaluationYou will be required to evaluate each member of your group. The peer survey can be found in the group project canvas module. This will due be at the time presentationand paper are due. Your peer evaluation (the evaluation of you from the other group members) will be included in your individual grade. If you fail to fill out the evaluation for your peers, your grade will be penalized.
