Motivation and Emotional Intelligence
All organizations rely on people for their success. As a manager, it is especially important that you understand the complex intrapersonal and interpersonal dynamics that drive each individual within an organization. For this Discussion, you examine the value of motivation and emotional intelligence for individuals and how they impact situations in the workplace.
Note: This is a Post First assignment. You are required to post your original post before the discussion board opens for your review.
For this Discussion, you will select one of the following options as the focus of your initial Discussion post.
Option 1: Motivation
To prepare for this Discussion:
Review this week’s Learning Resources.
With your professional experiences in mind, examine the value of motivation. Reflect on instances where you have experienced varying degrees of motivation. How did your level of motivation impact the outcome of the situation? Would outside influences have been able to change your level of motivation and response to the situation?
Consider your experiences from the perspective of an administrator. As a health care administrator, what strategies might you use to motivate employees (keeping in mind that individual motivations vary)?
By Day 3
Post a cohesive response to the following:
Analyze the value of motivation. Include an explanation of a professional experience where your degree of motivation impacted the outcome of the situation. Then, recommend strategies you, as a health care administrator, might use to motivate employees.
Option 2: Emotional Intelligence
To prepare for this Discussion:
Review this week’s Learning Resources.
With your professional experiences in mind, examine the value of emotional intelligence for organizational leaders. Consider an experience where a health care administrator demonstrated or failed to demonstrate emotional intelligence. How did this impact the outcome of the situation?
Reflect on your own emotional intelligence. What strategies might you use to further develop or enhance your emotional intelligence?
By Day 3
