Question 1
Management entails commanding a variety of resources and a workforce of humans to carry out a predetermined set of tasks; in contrast, leadership inspires and inspires others to take charge and carry out those tasks on one's own. For instance, a nurse manager might coordinate other nurses' efforts and provide directives for teaching patients about self-care strategies for various conditions (Bratton, 2020). Conversely, leadership requires inspiring and guiding followers toward a common goal. For instance, nurse leaders can work with their staff to ensure optimal performance when it comes to using various pieces of medical equipment.
Furthermore, followership is the process of learning leadership skills; for instance, a nurse leader might take leadership courses to learn more efficient approaches to enhancing and altering accountability in the workplace. In many settings, a nurse manager coordinates and oversees the work of a team of nurses to accomplish a certain goal. Nurse leaders are recognized when they can collaborate with their colleagues to teach them how to perform critical tasks in the healthcare setting, such as using specialized medical equipment. When a nurse manager is tasked with leading other nurses more professionally to fulfill the organization's varying needs, she may be sent on a fellowship to attend a specific course on leadership.
Question 2
The examples overlap with a nurse acting in all three capacities simultaneously. It's worth noting that it's not uncommon for nurses to serve in multiple capacities at once in a healthcare organization, including leadership, management, and fellowship. We cannot have leadership without fellowship to acquire the skills to lead effectively, which is good leadership.
Question 3
Leadership and followership often go hand in hand, with leaders having an impact on their followers' wants and needs and followers having an impact on their leaders' behavior and outlook, which can have positive or negative results. Leadership also entails inspiring others to buy into one's mission and priorities. Leaders paint a picture of what they believe is possible, then motivate and direct their followers to make that picture a reality. They have a critical mind that goes beyond the actions of individuals to help them fit into the bigger picture. Leaders are agents of change who adhere to the creed of innovation in situations where things must change for the better. (Hollander,2019). On the other hand, management entails all that must be done to reach predetermined objectives, with an emphasis on monitoring and planning. In other words, managers can achieve their goals by manipulating any circumstances.
Question 4
The 44th president of the United States of America was Barack Obama. The American people were led by him and other leaders who peacefully took their cues from him. Obama's success as a leader can be attributed to his ability to work well with others, his dedication to a strong work ethic, his clear vision, and the strong links he maintains with his family. Barack Obama has demonstrated leadership qualities such as open communication, deft handling of national pressures, focusing on the leader's strengths to advance progress, and establishing mutual trust.
