For this assignment, you will be writing and submitting your oral argument as a paper, and then creating and submitting a short video. This oral argument assignment demonstrates not only your ability to create a persuasive, evidence-based argument, but also to professionally present your argument orally. You’ll want to consider any feedback you received from peers during the discussion this past week, in order to improve your skills.
The point of your argument and video is to present a social justice issue that exists in the workplace or other space, propose a solution, and provide persuasive evidence designed to convince the audience your issue is important and your solution is viable. You need to incorporate what you have learned from psychology about persuasive communication: what techniques and tactics will make your oral argument more influential?
The reason you are creating a video is because communication through written information is not the only skill needed in today’s world. Communicating your ideas in multiple ways using professional writing and presentation skills is critical for job and career success. This video will help you improve your technical and communication skills, which will be used in any career you pursue.

For maximum points, your submission for the assignment must include the following components:
– Video of you, presenting your oral argument. This video must be of YOU. The video is not a reading of your written response. The video should emphasize persuasive speaking.
– A written response that uses APA style to outline your persuasive argument and the theories behind it. This written response is not your script for the video.
– Identification of a social justice issue present within the workplace or other space and why it’s important.
– Proposal of a solution, grounded in evidence and theory.
– Evidence supporting your prediction of a solution, including specific persuasive techniques (in your APA style paper, explain the techniques used in your video and why they will be effective).
– The video should be approximately two minutes long.
Students in the I-O concentration must include discussion of why educational or training programs in this area are important for leadership development and/or in sales environments.

Scripts help you sound more focused and polished while keeping the information clear and concise.
