One of the most important part of a email is the subject line. The subject line is where you tell the receiver of the email what its about. It is really important to make sure your topic line is clean and concise to get your point across. In some cases by having a bad subject line the recipient might take longer to open the message. You should never Start it off with hi or by being super wordy. By doing this it makes you seem confused on what is the main point of your email. By saying "Hi" it Doesn’t get the point across. When addressing an individual it’is very important that you if its professional or non professional . If its professional you need to be professional Start your email out with Hello Ms. Professor. By doing this you show that you respect them and in return majority of the time they will respect you. You should also make sure you dont use words Like "whats up" and hey there". It shows you really dont care about them or respect them. When you start your actual email you should get right to the point. You need to make sure your point is clear. You should add enough information to explain yourself such as an absence. You should end your email with words like sincerely or with thank you. This agains shows you respect them and are grateful for them taking up time to read your email. Your signature should be your first and last name and then end it with the professors name. Before turning your email in you should double check your info and check for spelling. When ending a email you can also add a link with information that you are asking about. An experience that has effected me when sending a email is when I had to miss an exam do to illness. Last year I was very sick with a lung infection and had to miss an exam. When I sent out the email for this exam i made sure my title was perfect and simple. I started it out with Hello MS professor. I then went and explained my situation and offered to send her a doctors note if needed. After explaining my situation well in my email she could see through my writing that l was indeed sick and let me reschedule my exam for the week after. This allowed me to keep a good gpa and do well in the class. After watching the power point l realized that I can add my professors name to the end of my email. Overall though I believe my emails are fairly strong.
