Assistive technology has been around for many years. After reading Module 6 Assignment: Motor development, I discovered that teachers have been using this technology for years. For instance, the foam grippers were used for pencils, markers, and crayons that was used to keep children with disability engaged and children without disability engaged as well. I remember my teachers giving each student in the class grippers for their pencil. It helps children to stay focus on the task in front of them without getting easily distracted. Audio books is another example of assistive technology, when I was in school when we put on the headsets the book would read to us and make a sound to turn the page or you had to turn the page for the book to continue reading to you. In classrooms in the present, they have computers and mobile apps to audio read with the ability to zoom in with an magnify glass. Now, you can use your phone, tablet, computer to set reminders each day for you to do your daily tasks by speaking or recording it. Fidget spinners have become very popular for students to use in the classroom to keep a student focused. An example of do it yourself is foam grippers, it can be used for rings on the show curtains or for toys to help children easily grip and hold the item.
