TASK 2: Case study
The Remote and rural medical services (RRMS) is a not for profit company to provide administrative support to rural medical practices. RRMS has addressed many of the barriers in rural and remote areas and found a mechanism where General Practitioners (GPs) retain control over the clinical and major policy aspects of their practices without having to be business or administrative managers.
Recently RRMS had an annual meeting in which all the GPs from various RRMS Centres have attended the meeting. Based on the feedback from almost majority of the GPs, the Board members has decided to relook into the way they are managing their billing, patient record keeping and information management system and has assured staff that management on urgent basis will devise a plan in to meet the recordkeeping and information management requirements of the organisation.
You have been appointed as a Change management Consultant by RRMS Board and have been given responsibility to prepare and present a report on the possible opportunities to implement a new/improved information management system that specifically meets the billing, recordkeeping and information management needs of RRMS.
Your report need to detail the information on the below mentioned criteria’s that would assist the Board Committee to confirm and implement the best possible improved/new information system within all the RRMS Centres:
Research on various options of information system relating to the need of the business, for eg: various Practice Management systems available in the market (like: Genie, Pracsoft etc)
Explain from where you will sources that information from on the new information system
Explain the key features of the new workplace information system
Detail the shortlisted information system and explain how it would meet the information requirements of the RRMS
Prepare an action plan for the new system implementation, including the key actions like regular staff training during the implementation phase: like awareness training, then product user trainings, storing and recording information
