Ethics is a set of moral principles that guide a person’s behavior. These morals are shaped by social norms, cultural practices, and religious influences. Ethics reflect beliefs about what is right, what is wrong, what is, what is unjust, what is good, and what is bad in terms of human behavior. They serve as a compass to direct how people should behave toward each other, understand and fulfill their obligations to society, and live their lives. Although there is some debate over the extent to which ethics can be learned, the environment has a substantial impact on ethical beliefs (Ward, 2011). Society has a multitude of ways in which it can influence a person’s code of ethics. Starting in the home and continuing throughout the community, individuals learn the difference between right and wrong and good and bad. Strong ethical training leads to living a good and moral life and accepting the responsibilities and rights of adulthood.
In addition to individual ethics and corporate ethics, there are professional ethics. Professionals such as managers, lawyers, and accountants exercise specialized knowledge and skills when providing services to customers or the public (Niebuhr, 2013). Under their profession, they have obligations to those they serve. For example, lawyers must hold client conversations confidential, and accountants must display the highest levels of honesty and integrity in their record-keeping and financial analysis. Succinctly, ethics can impact society both positively and negatively, and it is upon the adults in the society to guide and teach the young ones on the best moral grounds to keep as they grow up to avoid breeding immoral society.

Ethics refers to a set of rules that describes acceptable conduct in society. Ethics serves as a guide to moral daily living and helps us judge whether our behavior can be justified. As such, ethics is very important for the existence of society and can lead to its substantial growth in to more mature and balanced group which caters to the need of each and every member irrespective of its status, gender, race etc. It promotes honesty and creates law abiding citizen. As is evident from the fact that every child gets its first lesson as not to tell lies and steal. Ethics refers to society’s sense of the right way of living our daily lives. It does this by establishing rules, principles, and values on which we can base our conduct. The concepts most directly associated with ethics are truth, honesty, fairness, and equity.
Ethics is a code of conduct of all rational being in relation to other rational beings, non-rational beings and environment. Ethics regulate human behavior on how to relate properly with the environment around him. The main purpose of living ethically is for human happiness. The assumption is that when a person has a good relationship with others and with the environment, definitely he should be happy (Dameano,2005). Ethics is concerned with other people’s interests, with the interests if society, with Gods interests. So, when a person ‘thinks ethically’ they are giving at least some thought to something beyond themselves (“BBC – Ethics – Introduction to ethics: Ethics: a general introduction”, n.d.). Furthermore, if us as human beings can personify such values and morals of ethics, we will in turn create more peaceful and prosperous societies around the world.
