The Group Lesson Plan is expected to meet the following requirements
Components:
Title Page: Use the template provided in the Resources for this assignment.
Group Title.
Group Topic Description: A clear statement explaining the topic.
Purpose: Clearly state what you want to occur in your groupstate the purpose simply and concretely. Remember to state this is a processing group, not a psychoeducational or task group.
Goals: What do you want to accomplish? Provide concrete and measurable goals. Examples include challenge/explore factors that contribute to unfinished business, understand how to become more sensitive to others, differentiate between humor and the underlying intent of sarcasm.
Primary content, interventions, activities: Describe the interventions or activities you will use in the group with the estimated time each will take. Consider these additional points when planning your group:
Keep all members together for the entire groupno splitting out into dyads or triads.
The two co-facilitators will NOT be participating, only facilitating. This may be uncomfortable, and it may be hard not to share your personal feelings about the topic you are facilitating. However, just as we must keep our feelings and experiences separate in individual sessions, so, too, must we in a group setting. Your job as facilitators is to do just that: facilitate the group’s movement towards the goals.
Roles of Co-Leaders: Consistent or changingspecifically, who starts, who finishes? Who responds to questions and/or concerns? How are responsibilities divided equally?
Opening the group: How will you begin the group (for example, general rules, confidentiality, checking in, icebreakers, and framework specifics)? Include estimated times for each activity.
Closing the Group: How will you end the group (for example, summary, what was learned from members, checking out with all members)? Include estimated times for each activity.
Theoretical Foundation: Describe the theoretical foundations of the group. For example, will you apply Reality or Solution-focused questions?
Reference List: A minimum of three references is required. You must use proper APA style in listing your references. Refer to APA Style and Format on Campus for more information.
