Hello Professor and Classmates,
My boss has the reward power because he always acknowledges when I do a good job. He then rewards me throughout different stages of the year. He has the power, so he arranges for me to receive rewards. My boss fall under the Situational/Contingency Leader Theory. He falls under this because we come from different backgrounds and he learned to adapt to my situation. He works around my personal issues to find a solution that is best for us all. My boss leadership style is Participative/ Democratic. His way of doing things and achieving goals is through constant feedback. He expects to know of the slightest change in the work for the day. All he asks is that when we are at work, we participate 100%.
My reaction is John Wooden is telling us to be successful, we do not have to be the best just do your best. He wants us to take the time to enjoy the journey instead of concentrating on the finish, which might be a letdown. The journey is more fun than the end. Wooden want us to be patient and have faith that everything will work out as it should. He says if we want to be successful, we should not whine, complain, or make excuses. Wooden said they are three rules to stick to that are important. Never be late, no profanity, and no criticizing teammates. In Woodens Pyramid of Success I think that confidence should be lower on the pyramid. I think you need confidence to before you can undertake attributes like industriousness. Just an opinion.
