Objective: The aim of this assignment is to have the student create a 2-3 page paper where they will engage in a guided reflection of a current book about nutrition. The ultimate aim of the assignment is to help the student create a framework for reading and interpreting medial dealing with the shifting landscape of both scientific and popular information about nutrition. YOU MAY CHOOSE ANY BOOK OR DOCUMENTARY THAT DEALS WITH NUTRITION (nutrition and health, social issues, environment, politics, etc…)
Process: After choosing your reading, please consider the following questions as you proceed through the material, and address these issues in your paper. Please address these issues clearly (you may utilize a listing of these issues within the body of the paper)
How trustworthy is the author? What credibility do they have to be able to write critically about nutrition? How did they do their research? Are their sources credible?
If you watch a documentary – how is the creator of the documentary using the film’s structure and content to influence the message you receive?
Given your understanding of nutrition and science, are the ideas that they are promoting in their book correct? If not, why not?
What are the concepts and ideas that you learned from this book? What things do you feel are things that other people should learn?
How will you take this information and utilize it or expand upon it in your own life? Please outline your overall response to the book and the ideas within it as well
