Material insights from your analytics project
Use the attached Change Canvas templatePreview the document to answer the following:
1. You have derived material insights from your analytics project and hence demonstrated the value that analytics can create, but people within the organization have to implement your insights in order to capture that value. People may have to change the work that they do or how they do their work in order to capture the value that you created. ( 2 pages)
What changes in work or work flow are required to implement the insights & recommendations from your analytics and hence capture the value of your project?
Not everyone will be supportive of the required work changes so it is important to think about different stakeholder groups and their motivations for supporting or opposing the changes. Do stakeholder analysis again at this implementation stage to understand what stakeholders or stakeholder groups will be impacted by the required changes. Who would welcome and support the changes? Who would oppose the changes? What are their motivations for supporting or opposing the implementation of your insights?
Based on your understanding of the stakeholders and their motivations for supporting or opposing your project, develop tailored communication plans for each stakeholder group that will persuade them to implement your insights. Which stakeholders or groups of stakeholders will you communicate with? In what sequence? Describe the messages that you will use to persuade each stakeholder or stakeholder group of the importance and value of the first project. Describe how you will address both the rational and emotional concerns of the different stakeholder groups, and why you think these messages will be effective.
Describe how you will use analytics to track the implementation of your insights. How will you keep your sponsor informed of the changes in his/her operations?
2. Your first project was a success and the operating unit of the organization that implemented your insights captured its value. You have made them believers in the value of analytics. Your challenge now is to build on your success and expand the impact of analytics across all parts of your chosen organization. Scaling will impact the culture of your chosen organization, and make it more data and analytics driven. As we have learned, changing culture is very difficult. (2 pages)
Describe why the cultural change is important for your organization. Were any of the major changes in the history of the company informed by data and analytics? Would data and analytics have enabled your company to respond more quickly to environmental changes, or to seize opportunities that they may have missed? Do research on your organization and cite the sources that you use.
Your believers are only in the operating unit where you conducted your first project. As you think about the rest of the organization you again face the situation where not everyone will be supportive of the power of analytics. Describe how you will use the advocates from your first project to help you persuade the rest of the organization to adopt analytics in their functional areas.
3. Describe how you will use analytics to monitor the diffusion of change and the use of analytics through the organization. Describe how you will monitor the change in organizational culture, and to whom you will communicate the status of the change. (1 page)
