Most people who are helping are doing things that are personally rewarding, at the local, neighborhood or community level, such as contributing to food or clothing drives (81%) or sharing special skills or knowledge with children (80%). Forty percent helped at a school, church, temple or children’s program, worked with volunteer groups and almost all volunteered in other ways and at a broader, community-wide level.
