Value of Relationship Management in Transitional Nursing
Introduction
Transitional nurses are in a position to see patients transition from ill health or complicated health to better and proper health. In most cases, transitional nurses get to walk the whole journey with their patients. For example, they get to see patients who are recuperating eventually become normal. Additionally, they also get to help patients who will live with their conditions; they get to show them how they can easily live with their conditions and guide them to a better life regardless of their ill health that they have to live with the rest of their lives. Of course, for traditional nurses, there are challenges to the work. Transitional nurses are required not only expected provide proper health care but are also required to have real connections with your patients. By looking into the value of relationship building and relationship management we're able to assess how transitional nurses that cannot build and sustain relationships find it hard to cope in their field.
In order for patients to fully recover, they not only need medicine and healthcare, they need affirmation; they need treatment to be from somebody who offers the treatment with a caring heart. Transitional nurses have to be the people that offer care that is genuine and care that stands out. To be effective as a transitional illness, you have to have proper and reliable relationship management and relationship building skills. Transitional nurses that do not have proper and reliable relationship management skills end up dealing with patients inadequately. The lack of emotional intelligence from nurses can result in negative feelings amongst patients (Hardie et al., 2021). In addition, the lack of proper relationship management skills leads to a lack of trust and a possible breakdown of the relationship between transitional nurses and patients. Nurses that cannot manage relationship easily find it easy to have patients that take long to heal or to adjust to their current health status.
Problem in Transitional Care
The lack of relationship management skills amongst transitional nurses is a hindrance to the delivery of advanced healthcare. Transitional nurses offer services beyond the healthcare setting they operate from (Trotter, 2022). For example, the nurses have to visit patients in their homes or wherever they stay and they have to continuously offer reliable health care. By not having a way to manage the relationship between themselves and the patient, the nurses find it hard to ensure that their patients recover.
Florence Nightingale, the famous nurse, was loved and considered effective because she offered nursing care that was precise and that not only took care of the health of her patients, but care that took care of the mental health status of her patients (Matthews et al., 2020). Managing patient psychologically is crucial to the effectiveness of healthcare delivery.
Significance of the problem to Nursing
The problem that majority of transitional nurses faces is that they are not able to offer their services in a manner that manages the relationship that they have with their patients. If nurses cannot maintain good relationships with their patient more so as they transition from healthcare settings to their homes, nurses fail as far as healthcare delivery is concerned.
Purpose of the Research
By identifying proper ways in which nurses can manage the relationship with their patients, it becomes easier to improve the health care in the nation. The research focuses on identifying specific traits and characteristics of transitional nurses that can ensure they have good relationship management skills. The purpose of the research is to ensure that all transitional nurses are equipped with the necessary skills to manage relationships with their patients through proper relationship management to effectively improve public health care.
Research Questions
This research is going to be driven by three main research questions.
RQ1: What are the key skills and traits needed for traditional nurses to be effective relationship managers as they offer healthcare to patients transitioning from formal healthcare centres to their homes?
RQ2: How is effective transitional nursing identified?
RQ3: How can transitional nursing be improved to improve healthcare delivery?
The first research question is geared at providing evidence on how transitional nursing care can be improved to better health care delivery in the nation. By identifying the key skills needed for transitional nursing, it is easier to enforce the acquisition of such skills for healthcare delivery. The second question focuses on identifying what transitional nursing is and how effective it is supposed to be. By answering the question, policies can be enacted that dictate how transitional nursing should be implemented for proper and better healthcare delivery. The last question focuses on the identification of weaknesses in the current mode of transitional care delivery. By identifying the weaknesses, mechanisms and policies can be enforced that bring about improvement of transitional care delivery.
Masters Essentials that align with the Research topic
The master’s program is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and desire to continuously seek knowledge and practices that improve human science. Scholars get to adapt a mind-set that is keen on having processes that improve the delivery of health care. The development of a greater understanding of nursing and related sciences, which is required to properly assess, create, administer, and evaluate nursing care, is one of the essentials that this study issue aligns with (Nowak, 2020). By conducting the study, the researcher will adequately understand transitional nursing. Additionally, the researcher will know whether the practice is effective or not. Furthermore, the researcher will gain insight on the activities and processes that need to be changed or eliminated for the delivery of health to be effective.
The development of basic organizational and system leadership around the delivery of quality care is the second master's requisite that aligns with the study issue. Through conducting research in a systematic way, a researcher gains insight into how well organized researches are effective in proving insightful information into the handling of healthcare phenomena (Wood, 2020). By tackling the research topic, the researcher will attain a mindset that emphasizes on systematic leadership in healthcare delivery. The researcher will be a leader through the experience by conducting the research on the identified topic.
The last master’s essential that aligns with the research topic is the emphasis of evidence based practice in healthcare delivery. The researcher will have the opportunity to interact with transitional nurses and get information on the practices that are either hampering healthcare delivery or those that support healthcare delivery. Additionally, the researcher will review other research findings report on the topic. Consequentially, the researcher will have knowledge on the practices that need to be changed and those that need to be incorporated for effective healthcare provision.
