Activity 1
Dinner Time!
Students will first discuss their different cultures and their favorite meal they like to eat for dinner.
Students will then role play to create their own recipe on how to cook the meal. This is great practice to learn new vocabulary words for different foods and words such as, mixing and adding.
Students will next draw how the meal would look on a plate at the dinner table. Encourage students to be creative! Students can use multiple items in the classroom such as play dough, construction paper, newspaper, magazines, and glue.
The teacher will assist students in writing the names of the foods on their plates.
Last, students will compare their favorite meal project to other students in the classroom.
After students are finished creating their artwork, it will be placed or hung in the cafeteria to showcase their beautiful work.
Activity 2
Word Lottery
Before class, the teacher will print out dozens of simple nouns and verbs.
Cut verbs and nouns into little slips of paper and put them into a hat, bag, or container.
Invite each student to choose two words from the hat.
Give students a minute to produce a sentence that uses those two words. (The sentence must make sense).
Students will share their sentence with the class. Collect the words and go again.
The students may repeat words. Repetition helps!
