CLASSMATE’S POST
Educators can use the results of summative assessments to support their teaching, provide additional feedback to students, identify strengths and needs, and hold students and schools accountable for what has been learned. For example, an educator may use the results of a multiple-choice summative assessment to determine which students are most potent in a specific subject so that they can provide additional help to these students. Or an educator may use the results of an extended-response question to identify which students need to improve their reading comprehension to meet the standards set by the state so that they can provide additional practice to these students. This is what is used for my daughter’s reading lessons. She picks an extended-response question, and she writes about the chapters that she read.
