Research paper(annotated bibliography) on Drake the rappper
Research: It will be necessary to compose an annotated bibliography for this paper, which
will be completed as part of our weekly Canvas work. An annotated bibliography is a Works Cited page that includes an explanation (5-7 sentences) of each particular piece of research that you will be using in your paper. Note: as it pertains to research, only two of the required seven sources can be from .edu or .gov websites. If you use more than seven sources, you may then use additional websites, and credible .coms, .orgs, etc. will be acceptable.
Transitioning: Resist the temptation to employ the Twist-tie techniques we’ve discussed this semester. Instead simply separate each section with a title, an asterisk or other decorative symbol, or you might merely number each section. Whichever method you choose the effect should be transition-less. The sharp shift between sections will contribute to the multi-faceted, subjective approach to the matter in question.
Grading Criteria: Think of this as a comprehensive final exam. Attempt to use this paper to demonstrate what you’ve absorbed this semester.
Writing techniques
1. Thesauruscoping: Explore the difference between your abstraction and one of its synonyms, or compare your abstraction to one of its antonyms or an unrelated term, showing overlooked similarities. Ambitious students might do both.
2. Cliché-Busting: Identify a cliche idiom (When god closes a door, he opens a window) or simply a cliche idea (about god, for example, that he is loving, perhaps?), and then deconstruct the cliché and use your rhetorical momentum to redefine the topic.
3. Pie Slicing: Divide your abstraction into a minimum of three fine distinctions, labeling each specific division and providing a parallel amount of contrast between each “slice.”
4. Contrast Crunching: Expose hidden distinctions by comparing some aspect of your abstraction to something else. In doing so, you should provide a more nuanced understanding of your abstraction. Remember that applying a specific metric to guide the comparison will yield the most effective writing.
5. Quote Sandwiching. Remember that the quotes can be used in different ways – for support, for refutation, for transition, etc. – so make sure you implement your sources strategically. Don’t forget lead-ins, follow-ups, or a Works Cited page.
6. Masquerading: Using the "Masquerading" technique from Adios — either "Riddling," "Personifying," or both
7. Pie slicing: that classifies a group that has been stereotyped. Instead of relying on the stereotypes, classify this group according to characteristics that demonstrate how diverse the group truly is
8. Anecdoting: Students will be able to execute the following: Use narrative techniques to communicate a complex, sophisticated idea.
9. Netting: Students will be able to execute the following: Use specific and deliberate diction choices and sentence structures to create a well-developed list
10. Fusion: Use similies, metaphores and extended metaphores
11. Echoing: uses repetition for emphasis. He repeats singles words and groups of words; he repeats sounds, too — sounds at the beginnings and endings of words, sounds at the beginning and endings of sentences, of clauses, of words, of syllables, of prefixes and suffixes; he reverses and inverses; he alliterates, he emphasizes, he echoes.
12. Problem making:Write the problem of a subject and give a solution
