PROJECT INFORMATION:

You are a manager at Wild Water Sports Inc., a company that makes water sporting equipment. Currently the company uses the LIFO method to value inventory costs. Your boss has asked you to look into the advantages and disadvantages of switching to FIFO or the Weighted Average method.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:

There are 2 parts to this project. Part 1 is a 2-3 page memo due in week 3 which incorporates Excel. Part 2 is a PowerPoint presentation of your paper due in week 4.

REQUIRED:

Part 1: Prepare a 2-3 page memo. The memo will include an explanation of the advantages and disadvantages of LIFO for inventory valuation. Also included, calculations completed in Excel using the template provided, to show the impact on the financial statements if the company switches from LIFO to each of the other valuation methods (FIFO and Weighted Average). Finally, the memo will include your recommendation, based on your research and analysis, which valuation method Wild Water Sports, Inc. should use.

Part 2: Create a PowerPoint presentation discussing the key elements of your analysis focusing on your recommendation to switch or not switch inventory methods. You may use the voice-over feature in PowerPoint or YouTube to present your PowerPoint slides. You will also comment on at least 1 other classmate’s presentation that you watched.

WRITING ACTIVITY:

You are required to include at least 2 references from the Keiser University library. This is expected to be college-level writing.

You will be presenting your findings & conclusion from your paper using the voice-over feature in PowerPoint or YouTube. Please be sure the audio is clear and the file is in the Week 4 Project Presentation discussion board.
You will be collaborating with other classmates on their presentations and answering any questions about your own presentation.
