Formulating an Efficient Organizational Structure
Team structures are ways to organize people into groups based on their roles, responsibilities, and how they work together.
Some examples of team structures include:
· Functional structure: Groups employees by what they do, which can lead to more creativity
· Circular structure: Similar to a hierarchical structure, but with higher-level team members in the inner circle and lower-level team members in the outer circles
· Market-based structure: Groups people by industry, market, or customers, which can help employees focus on the needs of a specific sector
· Hierarchical structure: A traditional organizational model that follows a chain of command, with the most senior roles at the top
· Network structure: Allows teams to communicate more information within networks
· Flat structure: An organizational structure with only a few layers of management, which can distribute power and responsibilities equally
· Process-based structure: Divides an organization into units responsible for specific processes, such as research and development, customer acquisition, and customer support
When deciding on a team structure, it’s important to consider how well it matches the size of the team or organization, and if it clearly defines roles and responsibilities.
