Assessment Description
Differentiation and modifications are important components when preparing lesson plans that utilize strategies and resources aimed at identified student learning goals. It guides the teacher in creating differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students.
Part 1: Adjust for Specific Student Needs
For this assignment, use the lesson plan information you developed in Topics 1 and 2 (including any revisions you would like to make). Using the “ELM-550 Class Profile,” select three students who are performing below or above grade level (at least one of each) and describe how you will differentiate the instruction and assessment for the students.
Create a differentiation plan that includes:
· The chosen social studies and arts standards, grade level, and previously written learning objectives.
· Brief description of the learning activities, instructional strategies, and assessments (refer back to Topic 1 and Topic 2 assignments, including revisions) that will be used to integrate the social studies and the arts standards.
· Discuss how students with exceptionalities (including special education and gifted), ELLs, and early finishers would need to be supported during these activities, including information for supporting students during learning and assessment.
· Describe the strategies you will use during the lesson to make the content meaningful for all students and foster active engagement.
· Describe how you will differentiate the instruction and assessment for the three chosen students. Your description should include how you will differentiate the learning process, the content being presented, and the product expected from the students.
Part 2: Reflection
In 500-750 words, summarize and reflect on the following:
· Describe the process of designing an activity that integrates both social studies and the arts, along with how the questioning strategies and differentiation techniques enhance student learning.
