I found a live presentation from Emily Johnston on a thesis that she wrote for the University of South of Australia on the Ross River virus (RRV). It is a mosquito transmitted disease that is very common in Australia. Yes, she used a poster session to give information on her research for the audience to better understand the topic. Poster sessions are important for professional development by showcasing work, getting feedback/suggestions, build your network/reputation, develop presentation skills, and enhance your CV/portfolio (LinkedIn, 2025). Presentations are not conducted often at my current organization. We watch a lot of video’s in a classroom setting that includes safe operating conditions. It is important to construct a presentation that is not boring or without facts of the specific topic. Your audience needs to be intrigued by the information that is presented to them and trust that is worthy of their attention. Nobody wants to feel like their time is being wasted and poster sessions can give them the reassurance of them learning crucial information of the topic. I believe the best presentation types are including the audience and engaging them with relating to their job specification or everyday duties. People like to understand why that they are included into the presentation and how it will benefit them for future success.
