The results of my CliftonStrengths assessment revealed my top five strengths as Learner, Strategic, Relator, Discipline, and Achiever. These strengths describe my drive for personal growth, goal-oriented focus, relationship-building approach, structured thinking, and strong work ethic. What surprised me most was how accurately the “Learner” theme described my passion for continuous education—not just for the sake of outcomes, but for the process of learning itself. This resonates with my experience in nursing, where staying informed fuels both confidence and competence.
Two core values that emerged from my results are growth through knowledge and accountability. The Learner and Achiever strengths align with my intrinsic motivation to continually improve and hold myself to high standards (Gallup, 2024). These values have consistently influenced how I approach both academic and clinical responsibilities.
Two of my strongest leadership traits include strategic thinking and discipline. I am naturally inclined to plan, anticipate challenges, and organize complex tasks into actionable steps. These traits help me manage high-stakes clinical settings, especially during crises where time management and forward-thinking are crucial (Sfantou et al., 2021).
However, I would like to strengthen my adaptability and delegation skills. While discipline and achiever traits help me stay productive, they can also make me overly reliant on structure or hesitant to relinquish control. Enhancing flexibility would allow me to better respond to unexpected changes, while improving delegation would help me empower others—skills essential for effective nurse leadership (Alilyyani et al., 2022).
This self-assessment not only validated my strengths but also challenged me to use them more intentionally. For instance, I plan to engage in team mentorship opportunities to further develop trust-based relationships (Relator), and to seek leadership coaching that can help me delegate more effectively while supporting team growth.
