Overview
In this assignment, you assume the role of a state crime analyst. You have been asked to research and analyze demographic and crime trend data from two U.S. cities based on the size of their population. The data collected from your research will be organized into tables and your analysis of the data will be compiled into a three-page report that you will use to share your conclusions with local city officials.
Your collected data and the report will be done in a template (provided below). The template will guide you through the tables and report, but also be sure to read the assignment instructions carefully and preview the rubric before you begin.

- Identify accurate demographic data across six categories for the two cities you selected.
- Select your cities from the table provided.
- Complete the crime trend data chart for three violent crimes in your selected city with a population of more than one million, providing accurate, relevant information.
- Complete the crime trend data chart for three violent crimes in your selected city with a population of fewer than 500,000, providing accurate, relevant information.
- Complete the crime trend data chart for three property crimes in your selected city with a population of more than one million, providing accurate, relevant information.
- Complete the crime trend data chart for three property crimes in your selected city with a population of fewer than 500,000, providing accurate, relevant information.
- Analyze the demographic and crime trend data in a three-page report by comparing the data and determining three conclusions that could help inform local officials.
- Your analysis should be in-depth, accurate, and well supported by the evidence.
- The report must include a cover page and a source list. These do not count toward the three-page total.
- Use at least three sources to support your writing. Choose sources that are credible, relevant, and appropriate. You may include your textbook. Cite each source at least once within your assignment. For help with research, writing, and citation, access the library or review library guides.
This course requires the use of the Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The library is your home for SWS assistance, including citations and formatting. Please refer to the Library site for all support. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

Analysis Report
Create a report below in which you analyze the data you collected ( above) in the following ways:
· Compare and contrast the demographic and crime trend data you've collected for your two selected cities. (Review the tables and think about the trends you can see in the data and what they mean. Be sure to include both demographic and crime trend data in your analysis.)
· Draw three conclusions, based on your analysis of each of your selected cities, to share with the cities' mayors, police chiefs, and city councils.
Format: Your report should be three pages, double-spaced, and follow Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). You should include a title page, three pages of analysis, and a source list. Remember to cite each source listed on your source page at least one time within your assignment.
Submission: Be sure to review the rubric and proofread your work before submitting it for a grade. Once you have completed the assignment, submit it in the assignment area in the courseroom.
