PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
As technology grows and becomes more sophisticated, you—as an IT professional—are presented with new ethical, legal, and social concerns. Everyone involved with technology must understand these concerns. Professional responsibility is an all-encompassing domain that covers everything you do as a professional. Consider all of what your professional responsibility might encompass and to whom you have a responsibility.

To prepare for this Assignment:
Part 1 – Professional Responsibilities
• Think about yourself, as an information systems professional, and the organization you work for—or an organization that you would like to work for—and consider the professional responsibilities you would have to clients.
• Using your personal professional experiences and research, identify responsibilities information systems professionals have to society at large and to other members of their profession.
• Consider how these professional responsibilities translate into the broader area of business ethics.
Part 2 – Academic Integrity
• Research the topic of plagiarism. Based on your research, craft a definition of plagiarism in your own words. Then locate a short direct quote on the topic of plagiarism. (Ensure your quote avoids plagiarism by using APA formatting—including the use of an in-text citation and reference list.)
• Identify the steps you can take to avoid plagiarism during your academic studies at Walden.
• Consider your IT Professional responsibilities and how an IT professional might encounter plagiarism in the workplace. Identify the steps you can take to avoid plagiarism in the workplace.

Refer to the Week 2 Assignment Rubric for specific grading elements and criteria. Your Instructor will use this grading rubric to assess your work.
Your document should be 2–4 pages long (not including the list of references), but it is the quality of the work that is important, not the number of pages. Cite and reference all sources using APA format and style guidelines and submit in a single document.
