“Supply chain analytics began as the idea of scientific management outlined in Frederick Taylor’s 1911 publication of the principles of scientific management” (Dawkins, 2023). The framework of of a supply chain was adopted by key players in manufacturing dynasty such as Henry Ford (Dawkins, 2023). In the early 2000’s companies started using ERP systems to analyze supply chain performance (Dawkins, 2023). The systems helped organizations to forecast kinks in the supply chain and helped to improve expenditures while meeting customer demand (Dawkins, 2023). I will be using a mix of automated digital processes and data processing systems to collect data for this course (Google, 2025). By identifying all potential sources of external supply chain data such as suppliers, carriers, and market research will help to define objectives/scope (Google, 2025). Supply chain analytics can be used to optimize labor productivity and costs, maximize capacity with smart solutions, streamline returns management, accelerate order fulfillment with robotics, and enhance end-of-line packaging (Johnson, 2025). Rising cost pressures, persistent labor shortages, and the complexities of managing Stock Keeping Units (SKU’s) in vast numbers is forcing companies to rethink their distribution strategies by utilizing supply chain analytics to eliminate waste and to create efficiencies to give the a niche in the marketplace that will separate them from competitors (Johnson, 2025). By controlling the cost of supply chain activities a company can invest in themselves and utilize the newest technology to improve all processes for optimal customer satisfaction.
