Background
Researchers should be aware of the study's purpose, data confidentiality, and the use of participant audio or video recordings when conducting research with children or adolescents. Other ethical concerns may include parental consent, participant assent, and the right of children not to answer questions if they do not want to. Different studies have different ethical concerns. The research should not cause harm to the participants and the benefits should outweigh the risks. Ethical research guidelines must always be followed, including special protections for minors.
