Odds and Ends (1939), also known as The Remains of a Forest, is an oil painting by Canadian artist Emily Carr. It shows a landscape after it has been cleared by industrial loggers. In her journals, Carr described the tree stumps as “tombstones” and the large splinters left along the tree stumps by the logging machines as “screamers.”
